An intensive clinical and face-to-face evaluation of an individual’s presenting mental health, developmental disability, and/or substance abuse condition that assist in determining what your specific needs are with the purpose of making a diagnosis. The assessment is usually the first stage of the treatment process.
The CALOCUS is an assessment and placement instrument developed by the American Association of Community Psychiatrists AACP & the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry AACAP. It's used to assess level of care needs for mental health consumers.
Objectives of the Assessment Tool: LOCUS/CALOCUS
1. Assesses a child's needs based on level of functioning rather than diagnosis and psychiatric risk alone.
2. Assesses the child's needs and allocate resources based on six evaluation dimensions.
3. Determines a recommendation for level of care;
